“Who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets the prisoners free.” Psalm 146:7
Our Mission Statement
Blue Ridge Prison & Jail Ministries is a Christian interdenominational evangelical outreach to men, women, and youth involved in the correctional process. Its membership includes volunteers who serve as board members, Bible teachers, Christian cell to cell ambassadors, literature distributors, discipleship teachers, video operators, and graders.
The motive of this organization is service in love and obedience to God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in carrying out Biblical mandates, to remember and visit those who are incarcerated and to regard any suffering they may endure as our own. This is expressed as a spiritual ministry, the purposes of which are to: Evangelize – presenting a clear picture to the individual of Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior, who is relevant and able to deal with past, present and future desires and hurts; teach the Bible as God’s Holy Divinely Inspired Infallible Word that is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correction and training in righteousness, so that the men and women of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work; to provide Biblical counseling in regards to the problems of the whole person; to disciple individuals, teaching them how to have a daily relationship with God, learning to walk as Jesus did; and to follow them up in aftercare upon their release from incarceration, helping them to continue their Christian lifestyle so as to discourage recidivism.
